Challenge

Grocery prices are fragmented across stores and countries. A lower sticker price also says little when the package has become smaller. BonPrijs therefore needed to connect current prices with historical price and package-size data to reveal the real movement in cost.

Approach

• –Regional catalogues and data pipelines for retailers in Aruba, the Netherlands, and Belgium
• –Store comparisons and shopping lists that account for different retailers, currencies, and markets
• –An inflation tracker showing price movement by product, category, and period
• –A shrinkflation tracker connecting price changes to changes in quantity and package size
• –A receipt contribution flow: photo, OCR, contributor correction, then moderation before publication

Result

BonPrijs grew from an Aruban grocery comparison tool into an international price-intelligence platform for Aruba, the Netherlands, and Belgium, with dedicated inflation and shrinkflation trackers.
